|
Q:
|
Do I have to model the complete building to get engineering, plots, calcs, etc? |
A: |
Yes. Loads are generated and passed through the entire structure. In order to guarantee that these loads are developed correctly, the entire structure must be modeled. |

Q:
|
Can a plan be scanned in? Can you import a DXF file as a completed model? |
A: |
KeyBuildŽ is not compatible with scanners. DXF files can be imported and used as a reference for model input. Due to the amount of information included in the members model (i.e. bearing properties, materials lists, etc
) line drawings cannot be directly converted into KeyBuildŽ models. |

Q:
|
What sort of experience does a person need to be a KeyBuildŽ user? |
A: |
Ideally, a potential KeyBuildŽ user should have experience with computers, CAD, and have a general idea about the building industry, if not real world experience. The less a user knows at the start, the more time and assistance it will take for that person to become proficient with KeyBuildŽ. |

Q:
|
How long will it take my operator to get good at running your system? |
A: |
The more often an operator uses KeyBuildŽ, the better he/she will be with the software. If an operator does not use the software, there is little hope that he or she will become a proficient user. An operator who has the right experience, was trained, and uses the software regularly, can become an efficient user in as little as one month. |

Q:
|
Does KeyBuildŽ engineer wall panels? |
A: |
KeyBuildŽ will transfer and track the loads through the wall panels. A user can print out a report that specifies the exact load being supported by each vertical member. |

Can I buy KeyBuildŽ? |
A: |
No. KeyBuildŽ is available for lease only. |

|
Q:
|
Can I share my software? Is there a multi-user version of KeyBuildŽ? Can I network the software? |
A: |
No. KeyBuildŽ is a single user, single license package. One copy runs on one computer. Data files and output devices can be shared through a network, but the program cannot. |

Q:
|
Do I really need to train on your software? |
A: |
Due to the immense capabilities in the KeyBuildŽ software, we do require that users train before operating the software. Users who do not attend a KeyBuildŽ training session are far less likely to become proficient than those who do. |

Q:
|
Can KeyBuildŽ engineer conventional framing? Are the members included in materials lists? |
A: |
Conventional framed roofs can be engineered and framing members are accounted for in the final materials list. |

Q:
|
How long will it take me to process a 2000 sq. ft. structure? |
A: |
Unfortunately, the time that it takes to input a structure has more to do with how complicated it is rather than how big it is. An experienced KeyBuildŽ user should be able to process an average complexity, 2000 square foot home in 4-6 hours. |

|
Q:
|
How complicated of a building can I design? |
A: |
KeyBuildŽ is primarily geared toward residential and light-commercial framed structures. The actual complexity of the building being input is limited by the experience of the user, and what the engineer will allow. |

|
Q:
|
Will I still need an engineer if I use KeyBuildŽ? |
A: |
Yes. KeyBuildŽ is a tool and cannot replace the job performed by the engineer. KeyBuildŽ can instead reduce the amount of work that has to be done by the engineer. |
